* Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro has signed a decree aimed at combatting fraud in the Instituto Nacional de Seguro Social (INSS), the government body responsible for distributing pensions and social benefits. The decree lays out new rules for the distribution of benefits to dependents of prisoners, rural workers’ pensions, and pensions for death, and it also establishes a system to review existing benefits. The government says that the measures could lead to savings of R$9.8bn (US$2.6bn) over the next year alone.
