In brief: Colombia

* A Colombian delegation has arrived at the 2019 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, hoping to promote the image of Colombia as a country in a transformative phase which offers an attractive and safe destination for investment. This is the message delivered by Flavia Santoro, president of ProColombia, the government agency in charge of promoting non-traditional Colombian exports, tourism and foreign investment. In a statement, Santoro said that the government’s strategy is “to attract foreign investment destined for mega-projects and from large companies that have the ability to trigger the interest of other investors, and contribute to raise the position of Colombia as an investment destination and export platform”. The first delegation's first event in Davos will take place on 24 January, when Colombia’s President Iván Duque will present his government’s strategies to attract foreign direct investment. His presentation will be attended by 27 business leaders from the US, Canada, South Korea, Singapore, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, Switzerland, Poland, India, and China.
