In brief: Bolivia

* Bolivia’s national ports administration (ASP-B) and its Uruguayan counterpart (ANP) have signed an operative agreement which will improve the import and export of Bolivian merchandise through the Paraguay-Paraná waterway. ASP-B’s executive manager, David Sánchez, stated that the “signing of this operative agreement is the result of several years of work. It will allow us to have presence in the Uruguayan maritime ports of Nueva Palmira (Colonia department) and Montevideo (Montevideo) that are connected to Bolivia through the Paraguay-Paraná waterway”. Juan José Ramirez, ANP’s vice president, also endorsed the agreement, stating that “this agreement is important, it gives indication of a very strong Southern Common Market (Mercosur) trade bloc, which will benefit our country”.
