In brief: Paraguay

* Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released new figures which show that meat exports in January 2019 totalled US$84.5m, marking a 12.5% fall on the exports registered the same month last year. Russia was the main destination for meat exports, with a 33.6% share in the total value exported, representing US$28.4m. Luis Pettengill, president of Paraguay’s chamber of meat (CPC), attributed the fall to the “brusque adjustments that Argentina and Brazil suffered with their currencies”.
