Colombia-Venezuela: Venezuelan women – victims of human trafficking networks in Colombia

The economic and political crisis in Venezuela has pushed 3m Venezuelans to leave the country. Driven by this significant migration event, the Venezuela-Colombia border has become a centre of operations for criminal organisations which have established networks for human trafficking, sexual abuse, and exploitation. Venezuelan women and children find themselves being exploiting in Colombia and abroad. The situation presents challenges for the Colombian government and requires regional cooperation to address the situation and offer appropriate assistance to victims.
