In brief: Brazil

* China’s ministry of commerce has confirmed the imposition of anti-dumping tariffs on imports of Brazilian chicken products. From 17 February, tariffs from 17.8% to 32.4% will be imposed on imports of Brazilian chicken products and will remain in place for five years. Following months of negotiations with producers, China has agreed to exempt 14 Brazilian companies from the anti-dumping duties, including JBS and BRF, provided they do not sell their products at a lower price than previously agreed. Brazil, the world’s second largest producer of chicken, is the principal exporter of frozen chicken products to China.
