In brief: Argentina

* Argentina’s treasury minister, Nicolás Dujovne, has said that in the next few years investment opportunities worth US$30bn will open up in Argentina’s hydrocarbons sector. Dujovne made his remarks during an international oil and gas sector conference in Houston, Texas, where he tried to convince business leaders to invest in Argentina despite its current economic problems and the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming October general election, in which the presumptive re-election bid of President Mauricio Macri is expected to encounter serious difficulties due to discontent with the high inflation rate and the generally poor performance of the national economy.
