* Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released figures which show that retail sales increased 0.4% month-on-month in January, after a 2.1% monthly decrease in December 2018. Year-on-year, retail sales increased 1.9% in January 2019 compared with January 2018, driven in part by an increase in sales of supermarket, food & beverage, and tobacco products.
