In brief: Brazil

* Brazil’s economy ministry has announced that it will freeze R$29.78bn (US$7.6bn) of the federal government’s budget this year. The decision was announced after the government revised its expected annual revenue down by 2%, following the re-adjustment of 2019 GDP projections to 2.2% from 2.5%. The government expects its expenses to increase by just 0.25% more than initially outlined in the 2019 budget.
