* Brazil’s economy ministry has announced that 173,139 formal jobs were created in February, bringing the total formal employment to 38.6m jobs. A cumulative 207,400 formal jobs were created in the first two months of 2019. This is the third consecutive positive result for formal job creation in the first two months of the year, and it represents a 49.2% increase on the number of jobs created in January-February 2018, and a 171.2% increase on job creation in the same period in 2017. The positive February results are in part due to renewed employment opportunities in the construction sector.
