On 30 March, Mexico’s national indigenous council (CNI) and the Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) armed militant group issued a joint statement rejecting the public consultation of indigenous communities over the Programa de Desarrollo del Istmo de Tehuantepec infrastructure development project staged by the government led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on 30-31 March.
