In brief: Uruguay

* Figures from Uruguay’s economy & finance ministry (MEF) show that the country’s fiscal deficit increased to 4.5% of GDP in February, after discounting the effects of the recent changes to the national pension system. This is up from the 4.3% deficit reported in January and shows that the fiscal deficit continues to increase despite the fact that the government has aimed to reduce the deficit to 2.8% by the end of the year.
