In brief: Argentina

* The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board has concluded the third review of Argentina’s economic performance under the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) approved on 20 June 2018. Based on this review, the IMF has approved a new disbursement of US$10.8bn, which increases total disbursements from June 2018 to US$38.9bn. "The government's policies underpinning the IMF-backed agreement are bearing fruit. The high fiscal and current account deficits - two major vulnerabilities that led to the financial crisis last year - are declining", declared Christine Lagarde, IMF Executive Board President and Managing Director.
