GUYANA: Uncertainty set to continue

The political struggle in Guyana for control of the country’s newfound – but not-yet-flowing – oil wealth took another twist on 22 March when the Court of Appeal ruled that the 21 December no-confidence motion was invalid. That ruling removed the immediate pressure on the government, but it was not the last word as the opposition immediately announced that it would seek a referral of the deeply controversial ruling to the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).
