In brief: Mexico

* Mexico’s social security institute (IMSS) has reported that 48,515 formal jobs were created in March this year, bringing the accumulated number of new jobs to 269,143 in the first quarter of 2019. The IMSS notes that this number is slightly above the average number of jobs created during this period in the last decade. However, job creation has fallen compared to last year. In March 2018, the IMSS recorded 90,509 new jobs, which means year-on-year monthly job creation fell by 46.4% in March this year.
