US blocks MLB agreement with Cuba

Brazil: On 8 April, Brazil’s Vice President Hamilton Mourão met his US peer Michael Pence in Washington DC. According to a US Department of State press release the two men “commended the successful and substantive meeting” which took place last month between US President Donald Trump and Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro and “committed to maintaining the momentum it generated across a wide range of policy interests, including defense, security, space cooperation, and trade”. The two also discussed Venezuela, reaffirming their support of opposition leader and self-proclaimed interim president, Juan Guaidó. Also in Washington, Mourão participated in a round-table discussion at the US Chamber of Commerce, in which he spoke about issues such as Brazil’s pension reform. He also met US senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Jim Risch (R-ID), and Tom Udall (D-NM).
