In brief: Peru

* Peru’s national statistics institute (Inei) has released the latest figures for economic growth which show that national economic activity grew by 2.09% in February 2019 compared to the previous year. Inei notes that this the 115th consecutive month of positive growth. This is up from 1.58% year-on-year growth in January 2019, and it brings the accumulated national growth rate for the 12 months to February 2019 to 3.83%. “The government…is developing a series of reforms and measures that aim to increase the potential GDP, which would allow Peru to grow at rates above 4%, with strong domestic demand, and dynamic public and private investment” Peru’s finance & economy minister Carlos Oliva said in reaction to these latest figures.
