Brazil: Developing the defence industry
In early April, Rio de Janeiro hosted the 12th edition of the biennial Latin America Defence and Security Exhibition (LAAD), the region’s largest defence industry event. Some 450 Brazilian and foreign brands and 150 delegations from 67 countries gathered for the expo. Interest in Brazil’s defence sector has been fuelled recently by the positive signals of President Jair Bolsonaro’s government, which was keen to highlight the sector’s potential to foreign companies and possible partners during the LAAD.
