* President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has said that state-owned oil company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) should meet its production target of averaging 2.48m barrels per day (bpd) during 2024 and would close the year with 2.65m bpd per day. López Obrador cited important advances in the construction of infrastructure and drilling of oil wells in 20 new developments this year, of which 12 will begin production this year. President López Obrador said the most important oil field 'Ixachi', in Veracruz state, was already producing 3,900bpd of high-quality crude. He said that between 2019 and 2024, Pemex expected to drill around 500 wells, construct over 100 platforms for marine production, and install over 4,000km of oil pipeline.
