In brief: Mexico

* Mexico’s national hydrocarbons commission (CNH), the sector regulator, has agreed to impose sanctions on Pemex Exploración y Producción (PEP), the state-owned oil company Pemex’s exploration-and-production subsidiary, for failing to respect the extraction development plan in its 'Xanab' oil field off the coast of Tabasco state. According to the national press, the sanction amounts to over M$24m (US$1.26m) and PEP will only be able to challenge this decision in court.
