Colombia: Rock-bottom coffee prices cause problems for farmers

With global coffee prices having fallen sharply in recent months and futures prices suggesting further declines, Colombian coffee farmers are not even covering production costs. Even with government assistance, crop substitution is likely to continue. Export earnings from the coffee sector are likely to fall.
