Mexico: OECD strikes a cautious note over 2019 prospects

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has highlighted Mexico’s weak prospects for 2019, projecting a deceleration of real GDP growth from 2% last year to 1.6% this year. This chimes with recently-released first-quarter data, which showed that the economy actually contracted on a quarterly basis. However, the OECD remains upbeat about the outlook from 2020, anticipating a renewed – albeit moderate – acceleration.
