In brief: Mexico

* A Mexican federal judge has ordered the suspension of the construction of the Santa Lucía airport project, located in Zumpango municipality, Estado de México (Edomex). According to a local anti-corruption group, Mexicanos Contra La Corrupción y La Impunidad (MCCI), the ruling halts construction of the airport to ensure it does not harm the environment or threaten the integrity of cultural heritage sites in the area. This judicial resolution has been driven by the collective '# NoMásDerroches', which is comprised of law firms, civil society organisations, and citizens who have presented proceedings to ensure that the project has the required permits and considerations. With this injunction, authorities may not continue construction work until an explicit work authorisation guarantees it will not harm the environment or cultural heritage.
