In brief: Argentina

* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures for the national consumer price index (CPI), which show that monthly inflation increased by 3.1% in May compared to April. Accumulated inflation for the first five months of 2019 totalled 19.2%, while the year-on-year inflation stood at 57.3%. This latest data confirms a deceleration trend observed in April. However, “these figures are still very high”, the president of the central bank (BCRA), Guido Sandleris, admitted.
