* Chile’s President Sebastián Piñera has announced plans to reactivate the economy which grew by just 1.6% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, the lowest quarterly figure since the second quarter of 2017. The plans include a US$4bn investment in the country’s public works this year and US$20bn between 2018 and 2022, to create a total of 270,000 new jobs. The funds will be used for the construction of new roads, reservoirs, port and hydraulic works, and rural portable water systems.
