In brief: Mexico

* Mexico’s senate has ratified the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) regional trade deal meaning that Mexico has become the first of the three countries to approve the agreement. The new agreement replaces the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta). Mexico's President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Twitter described the ratification of the trade agreement as “good news” in building strong relationships while US President Donald Trump tweeted his “congratulations to President López Obrador” adding it was “time for [the US] Congress to do the same here!”
