CHILE: Piñera reshuffles cabinet as popularity plummets

Chile’s President Sebastián Piñera’s approval rating has fallen sharply, according to the country’s eagerly anticipated biannual survey Centro de Estudios Públicos (CEP) released on 13 June. Just two hours later, Piñera carried out an extensive cabinet reshuffle. The timing looked deliberate. The CEP findings were not unexpected and were consistent with other pollsters. The cabinet changes helped Piñera avoid some unwanted headlines.
