Sebastián Piñera has announced an investment plan of US$1.44bn to modernise the country’s airports. The project includes works at 17 airports and seeks to double the capacity of terminals (214,000m
2 to 537,000m
2) to meet the increasing demand of the upcoming 20 years. President Piñera also promised a reduction of boarding fees of 10% for domestic flights – a continuity of a policy initiated last year. This project aims to further increase international operation services to 15 other airports.
