* The government of Brazil’s north-eastern state of Ceará has signed an agreement with Spanish company Globalia for the launch of direct flight routes between the Spanish capital, Madrid, and the Ceará state capital, Fortaleza. The two weekly flights, operated by Globalia-owned Air Europa, will launch on 1 December, and sales for tickets will begin next month. Ceará state governor Camilo Santana noted that Ceará is becoming one of Brazil’s major aerial transport hubs. “Last year alone there was a 60% increase in the number of foreign tourists in Fortaleza airport. This means opportunities for jobs in hotels, in restaurants, in transport and in all the sectors of our economy”, Santana said.
