In brief: Argentina

* Argentina’s agriculture ministry has announced that the first shipment of chilled beef destined for China has left Argentina, following the approval of a new sanitary protocol between both countries, which came into force in early June. The new protocol allows Argentina to export chilled beef cuts both with and without bone to China (previously, only boneless frozen cuts were authorised for export). China is the principal market for Argentine beef, with exports totalling US$998m in 2018, up from US$523m in 2017.
