URUGUAY: Presidential line-up complete

Uruguay’s primary elections on 30 June contained one slight surprise – but it was not the big one some pollsters had anticipated. Ernesto Talvi will stand as the presidential candidate of the right-of-centre Partido Colorado (PC, Colorados) on 27 October after a decisive victory over former president Julio María Sanguinetti (1985-1990; 1995-2000) in the party primaries.
