The world is a less peaceful place than it was a decade ago, but, for the first time in five years, the global peace index (GPI) registered an improvement, according to the Global Peace Index 2019 report compiled by the Australia-based Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP). Not so, however, in Latin America: between 2018 and 2019, peace indicators deteriorated in South America, and the Caribbean & Central America (CCA).
