From 1 October the US will formally cut off all sales of military equipment to Venezuela, making official the creeping embargo it has been applying through the obstruction of private supplies of spare parts and components, and via the exercise of its veto over attempts by third countries to sell Caracas military matériel that incorporates US technology.
