Recent revelations that in 2015 President Juan Orlando Hernández was targeted in an investigation into large-scale drug trafficking and money laundering by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) since “at least in or about 2013” have left the president again on the defensive. He has since issued a statement underlining that the US Department of Justice had found no evidence to support the accusations.
