BRAZIL: Second São Paulo 'offensive' has different outcome

A second wave of attacks by the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), in the second week of July, was contained with far less bloodshed than May's uprising [SSR-06-06], with the police kept on a tight leash and intelligence, despite some hiccups, helping to direct security efforts more accurately. This second episode ended with the police claiming to have disrupted the PCC's 'treasury', which had been funding its growing belligerence.
