BRAZIL: Maia in the limelight after pension reform win

President Jair Bolsonaro’s government looks set to succeed where its predecessors failed: Brazil’s congress is closer than ever before to passing a significant reform to the country’s unsustainable pensions system. On 10 July, the federal chamber of deputies approved the base text of a constitutional amendment for a pension reform (PEC 6/19) with 379 votes to 131 in a first round of voting.
