* Chile’s office of agricultural study and policy (Odepa) has published statistics on 2019 first half meat exports, indicating growth in both export revenue and production compared with the first half of 2018. In total, beef, poultry, and pork meat exports totalled 185,400 tonnes (t), worth US$476m over this period. Compared with 2018, beef exports saw the most significant growth totalling 7,825(t) (up 65%), worth US$30.8m (up 50%), with China buying 71% of exports. Pork exports were up 12% to reach 107,480t, worth US$262m (up 9%), with buyers including China (30%), Japan (25%), South Korea (21%), and Russia (14%). Finally, poultry exports totalled 70,095t (15% increase) and amounted to US$183.2m, up 4%. Its most significant markets include China (25%), US (25%), United Kingdom (12%), and Puerto Rico (10%).
