* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released its latest statistics for the external sector, which show that foreign direct investment (FDI) net inflows to Brazil totalled US$37.3bn in the first six months of 2019, a 10.4% increase on the same period in 2018. However, FDI inflows in June 2019 decreased by 68% compared with June 2018, totalling US$2.19bn. The BCB remains confident that this decrease is just a blip and that FDI will increase again from July.
