* Natural gas distribution company Promigas has begun operating its Jobo-Majaguas natural gas pipeline that runs north-south through Colombia's Sucre and Córdoba departments. Construction on the 85km long pipeline began in January, with a Col$240bn (US$74.6m) investment, and is the first phase in what Promigas hopes to be a pipeline that stretches along Colombia's Caribbean coast to the city of Cartagena. In addition to the finished pipeline, Promigas has also started operating the 25,000 square metre Filadelfia compression station in Sucre department that was built with Col$55bn (US$17m). The project employed 1,230 workers, 520 of which were unskilled, and will supply 30% of the current demand for natural gas in the region.
