First stage of Veracruz port modernisation project implemented

On 2 July 2019, the project to expand and modernise the Veracruz port marked an important milestone with the arrival of the Maltese-flagged container ship White Shark at the new purpose-built container terminal (TEC), built by Hutchison Ports-ICAVE. The ship, which measures 294 metres long by 32 metres wide, with a draught of 11 metres, is one of those destined to link Veracruz to the ports of northern Europe, as part of the largest Mexican port upgrade in many years. The new terminal will operate alongside the old one until the latter is decommissioned in November 2019.
