In brief: Paraguay’s lower chamber approves biofuels law
* Paraguay’s chamber of deputies has accepted modifications made by the senate to a legislative initiative on the obligatory use of biofuels in Paraguay, and it will now go to the executive for promulgation. The initiative establishes a means of promoting the sustainable manufacturing and obligatory use of biofuel suitable for use in diesel engines. The amended bill sets out a steady increase in the use of biofuels from 1% per year to a maximum of 5%, accommodating the gradual adjustment of the market and of local industries.
