Coca cultivation in Bolivia down

In its annual report, released on 22 August 2019, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) found that the overall volume of coca cultivated in Bolivia in 2018 had declined by 6% from 2017 figures. This is a positive indication, particularly when combined with Bolivian government figures suggesting that the amount of coca traded in the two legal markets – in the Villa Fátima district in La Paz, and in Sacaba, a city in the Cochabamba province – increased by 5% in 2018.
