BOLIVIA: Mesa receives a boost

President Evo Morales’ chief rival ahead of presidential elections on 20 October, former president Carlos Mesa (2003-2005), of the opposition alliance Comunidad Ciudadana (CC), has received a boost ahead of the vote after one of Bolivia’s main opposition leaders Samuel Doria Medina, of Unidad Nacional (UN), endorsed his candidacy. The boost for Mesa comes as the latest polls continue to reveal some worrying findings for Morales and his ruling Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS).
