New Conadic director outlines fresh approach

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said his government would adopt an integral strategy to combat drug trafficking in the country, one that would not only focus on combatting drug trafficking organisations (DTOs) but also address some of the socioeconomic factors that allow them to thrive. To advance this strategy, López Obrador appointed a new director of the national commission against addiction (Conadic), who outlined a new interinstitutional approach to dealing with the problem of drug addiction in Mexico.
