Upswing in production of synthetic drugs. Mexico has consolidated its position as a leading supplier of metamphetamines, marijuana and cocaine to the US, according to the latest annual report of the UN's International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), released on 28 February. It notes that production of synthetic drugs within Mexico has increased as a result of US pressure on laboratories within its own territory. Raids on clandestine labs in the US fell from 10,200 in 2003 to 5,300 in 2005, the INCB reports.
