HONDURAS: Fourth anti-crime drive, more use of army

President Manuel Zelaya has launched his fourth anticrime offensive since his accession to power 14 months ago. It will focus mainly on the drugs trade, which Zelaya holds responsible for 70% of all violent crime in Honduras. It will also rely heavily on army troops, which have been undergoing training in policing duties. The announcement came in the wake of two high-profile assassinations of police officers (and a continuing spate of other murders).
