Authorities consider counter-cyclical fiscal fund
The government’s fiscal policy stance remains tight, with an ongoing commitment to austerity, but at the same time the authorities are looking at ways to free up funds in the medium term to provide scope for counter-cyclical fiscal stimulus. Several ‘rainy day’ funds exist, but fiscal responsibility legislation may evolve to provide these with extra firepower.
