Belize pleases US with Taiwan policy

In December 2017, Belize upset the United States by supporting a United Nations General Assembly resolution condemning the US’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. However, this doesn’t seem to have caused any lasting damage in relations judging by the visit in late October to Belize by a high-ranking state department official. US satisfaction with Belize for maintaining diplomatic relations with Taiwan is one reason for this.
