In brief: Brazil’s economic activity grows 0.44% in September

* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released the latest figures for the index for economic activity (IBC-Br), used as a forecast of GDP growth, according to which the economy grew 0.44% in September 2019 compared with August. Quarterly economic activity grew 0.91% in the third quarter of the year compared with Q2 and totalled 0.80% in the nine months to September. According to the BCB’s latest Focus bulletin, market analysts expect GDP to grow 0.92% in 2019.
