* Germany’s federal ministry of foreign relations has contributed €1m (US$1.11m) to the United Nations (UN) World Food Programme (WFP) in Ecuador, which will go towards aiding the humanitarian response operations the WFP brings to vulnerable people in situations of human mobility. According to the UN, the German government’s support will be key to guaranteeing food assistance to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and households with children, people with serious illnesses or people with disabilities in Ecuador’s most vulnerable provinces. “this contribution is a demonstration of our support”. Around 290,000 people received food assistance in Ecuador last year, according to the WFP.
